Daniel was recently awarded the Komitas medal by the Armenian government for his outstanding contributions to Armenian music. Minister Hranush Hakobyan awarded the “Komitas” Medal of the RA Ministry of Diaspora to Daniel Decker for performing and disseminating Armenian songs. In receiving the award, Daniel said "I am inspired by Armenia’'s cultural wealth, music, Christian heritage and beautiful nature. But most of all, I love the Armenian people. Armenians have gone through much pain and suffering, but the Armenian spirit remains. If we measure Armenia with its geographical area, we can say it is small, but if we measure it with the size of Armenians’ hearts, it is a mighty empire. I will continue to help Armenians and stand by their side. Long live Armenia and may God bless the country where He gave mankind a second chance.” In closing, Daniel performed the song "Aghjka Yerke"”.
Following the success of his recent CD "Armenian By Choice", Daniel has returned to his Gospel roots and begun composing for a new CD of modern worship songs. In the tradition of Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman and other contemporary worship leaders, this new project wil born out of Daniel's great love for the infinte variety of praise and worship music. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting project.
